RiverStone International Australia is seeking a Claims Consultant to join its Sydney Claims team. In this technical role, you will manage a portfolio of casualty and liability claims within a legacy and run-off environment. Working closely with the Head of Claims and key external stakeholders, you will provide input on coverage, liability, reserving and claims strategy, support effective claims resolution and contribute to delivering high-quality customer and business outcomes. Responsibilities


We are looking for someone with the following:
Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience handling casualty and liability insurance claims.
  • Experience managing litigated claims. 
  • Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships. 
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems and business software
Desirable
  • Strong understanding of Australian insurance claims practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Australian legal system and General Insurance Code of Practice.
  • Good understanding of insurance principles.
  • Knowledge of reserving practices, litigation management and claims resolution strategies.

Requirements


In this role you will:
  • Manage a portfolio of casualty, liability, litigated and complex claims. 
  • Assess coverage, liability and quantum issues and determine appropriate claims strategies. 
  • Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves in accordance with company guidelines. 
  • Negotiate and resolve claims in a timely and commercially effective manner. 
  • Identify opportunities for early resolution and implement strategies to reduce claim lifecycle and associated costs. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with lawyers, brokers, claims handlers, reinsurers, investigators and other service providers. 
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to support efficient claims progression and settlement. 
  • Maintain accurate claims records, data and documentation. 
  • Support audits, portfolio reviews and quality assurance activities. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the claims function. 
  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, authority limits and regulatory requirements.
